Speculation surrounding the next remake in the Resident Evil series has intensified since the launch of the five-year-old remake of Resident Evil 3. Fans are particularly vocal about their desire for a reimagining of Resident Evil - Code: Veronica, a Dreamcast classic often regarded as one of the series' finest entries yet has been overlooked by many gamers.
Following the third installment, Resident Evil 4 emerged. There are whispers that Capcom may be looking to remake Resident Evil 5, which introduced cooperative gameplay – a concept that could be exciting with the advancements in modern gaming technology. This raises the question: Which game will come next?
According to the reliable insider Dusk Golem, known for consistent leaks regarding Capcom releases, the answer may not be what fans expect. He suggests that the focus will shift to Resident Evil Zero as the next project.
Resident Evil Zero first graced the Gamecube in 2002, making its way to Europe the following year. Although it has since been available on various platforms, it has not seen any noteworthy updates since its initial release.
The series' latest title was the 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4. At present, there are no announcements for forthcoming games, and it appears Capcom may want to prioritize the debut of Monster Hunter: Wilds before revealing any future plans for Resident Evil. With Wilds set to launch next month, fans hope that more details about the horror franchise will emerge later this spring.
