PlayStation Network Faces Major Outage: Users Left in the Lurch for Hours
Shari Lynn Kramer / 10 Feb 2025

The PlayStation Network has been experiencing significant downtime, affecting users for over ten hours now. Many individuals with PlayStation 5 or PS4 consoles are facing difficulties accessing online services. The issue remains unresolved, and it is advisable to avoid attempting to connect until there are updates on the PlayStation Network Status page, which currently indicates widespread service disruptions across online gaming, social features, account management, and the PlayStation Store.
Reports of the network issues began surfacing around midnight CET on February 8. Players hoping to enjoy the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta this weekend or engage in the Madrid derby with friends on EA FC 25 will need to hold off for now. Additionally, there are concerning reports from some users unable to access single-player titles, as their consoles cannot verify licenses due to server connectivity issues. Although these instances appear to be uncommon, they raise questions about reliability moving forward.
For more information, stay tuned to the official channels. In the meantime, many users are finding humor in the situation, with plenty of memes circulating and some reminiscing about previous network outages in 2011.
