The soon-to-be-launched Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has stirred excitement, particularly regarding the casting of Keanu Reeves as the voice of Shadow. The film's director, Jeff Fowler, recently shared his insights on how Reeves' role in the John Wick franchise served as an unexpected yet ideal audition for this character.
Fowler expressed that there is a notable connection between Reeves' portrayal of John Wick and the atmosphere intended for Shadow. He emphasized that Shadow embodies the traits of an anti-hero, bringing a certain edginess that perfectly aligns with Keanu's acting style. The director praised Reeves for delivering an outstanding performance, highlighting that he understood the direction they wanted for the character and was enthusiastic about stepping into this new role.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 features a stellar cast, including James Marsden and Jim Carrey, along with talented voice actors such as Colleen O'Shaughnessey, Idris Elba, and Ben Schwartz. The plot revolves around the blue hero teaming up with allies Tails and former adversaries Knuckles and Dr. Robotnik to confront Shadow, who emerges as a formidable new adversary that bears a striking resemblance to Sonic.
The storyline reveals that while Sonic's journey has been favorable, Shadow's experiences have been fraught with challenges, leading him to seek vengeance against Sonic for what he perceives as the theft of his chances for an ideal existence.
