The Upcoming Release From Starbreeze Draws Its Inspiration From The Dungeons & Dragons Universe

The Swedish gaming company Starbreeze is currently facing challenges with the development of Payday 3, yet they're ambitiously looking ahead to new ventures. This was evident from their recent announcement of Project Baxter, an upcoming multiplayer title inspired by the iconic Dungeons & Dragons universe. At the game's reveal, CEO Tobias Sjögren expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration:
"Combining the cooperative and community-centric essence of both Dungeons & Dragons and Starbreeze seems like a natural fit. We prioritize 'play it your way' philosophies and endless replay value in our games. As we considered different intellectual properties for our upcoming projects, Dungeons & Dragons consistently held a prominent place on our list. I am overjoyed to share that we've secured this license, and I extend my gratitude to Wizards of the Coast for their partnership. We're deep into the development process and look forward to bringing an enthralling Dungeons & Dragons action-adventure experience to fans in 2026."
Project Baxter will follow in the footsteps of the Payday franchise, utilizing a Games as a Service (GAAS) model for continued content delivery. Slated for release across all key platforms in 2026, including crossplay functionality (a welcome feature), this title promises to be one to watch for those who crave fantasy adventures!
