The long-awaited next installment of the renowned Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series might be arriving soon, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. As per recent reports, Take-Two Games appears to be launching GTA 6 in late 2024 or early 2025. This conclusion was prompted by the company's financial report. If the rumors are accurate, it could mark nearly 12 years since the release of its predecessor, GTA 5, in September 2013.
In its latest earnings report for the fiscal year 2023, Take-Two has provided its customary reflections on the future, and it's within this section that we come across an intriguing statement:
"In Fiscal 2025, we expect to enter this new era by launching several groundbreaking titles that we believe will set new standards in our industry and enable us to achieve over $8 billion in Net Bookings and over $1 billion in Adjusted Unrestricted Operating Cash Flow. We expect to sustain this momentum by delivering additional growth in our operating results in Fiscal 2026 and beyond."
There has been a whirlwind of speculation surrounding GTA 6, from the game's plot and characters to the locations it might feature. According to journalist and insider Tom Henderson, the game will be set in a modern-day Vice City, likely drawing influence from the Miami-like setting from past games. This detail has been supported by other sources, although no official announcements have been made by Rockstar Games regarding the game's specifics.
In addition, various reports seem to confirm that GTA 6 will boast a single, evolving map that will undergo transformations over time. This approach, similar to how Fortnite develops its gameplay landscape, promises a fresh experience for longtime devotees of the franchise. Furthermore, Rockstar Games intends to exhibit a "high level of ambition" in GTA 6, potentially breaking new ground in the genre.
While Rockstar Games has yet to publicly affirm the rumored release date, the details provided by Take-Two have ignited excitement and anticipation among the franchise's extensive fanbase. Despite the potential for considerable delays, the prospect of another groundbreaking Grand Theft Auto title in late 2024 or early 2025 is, without a doubt, something to look forward to. Until then, eager fans will continue to hunt for leaks and eagerly await official news from Rockstar Games.
